ROUND 11 - THE CALABASH BROTHERS MAFIA (Town Wins!)

How mafia works (for the people who haven’t played before) from the wiki page (Which I think is very self-explanatory):

In its simplest form, Mafia consists of two sides: the Mafia, and the Town. The Mafia's goal is to kill the innocents, while the Town's goal is to kill the Mafia.

At the beginning of the game, the Moderator will secretly send everyone their role. The Mafia will know each other, while (in the basic game) everyone else will only know their own role.

The game has two phases. Usually the first is Night. During Night, the Town can not communicate, but the Mafia can discuss and choose someone to murder. After the Moderator has received the name of the victim, the Moderator reveals the dead player, and Day begins.

During Day, the Town must choose someone to Lynch; they are trying to eliminate the Mafia, but the Mafia can lead them astray by casting suspicion elsewhere. Generally, players will vote for someone they think is Mafia (the Mafia will vote so that they seem to be doing this as well, and might even vote for each other to confuse the Town); when a player gets a majority of the votes, they are lynched. Their role is revealed by the Moderator, and it is once again Night.

The game alternates between Night and Day until either the Mafia are eliminated, or the Mafia have killed everyone else.

Rules regarding your posts
Voting:
1. Vote in bold. Please type the player’s name that you wish to vote off IN BOLD AND CAPITOLS if you suspect him/her to be mafia. E.g. I vote LYNCH STEBUNG

2. You may only cast one vote per day. If you wish to change your vote please unlynch your previous vote IN BOLD also. e.g I UNLYNCH STEBUNG

3. Lynch (Voting off of a player) will only occur when the majority of the vote is reached. NOTE: The roles of the deceased players WILL NOT BE REVEALED this round. This helps to balance out the game and makes the game more interesting.

4. You may vote for a NO LYNCH. Again, if a majority of people vote for NO LYNCH, this means that no one will be lynched at the end of the day.
4 (a). If you vote for a NO LYNCH, you are not allowed to comment anymore until the next day. Except to change your vote, from which point you will be able to talk again.

5. Not being a dick……but please each post must contain at least 40 words. Any post less than that will be considered spam and you will be warned.

6. Do not discuss this game outside of this thread, unless your role or a PM from me says that you may do so. This continues to apply after you're killed and until the game is over. Come on lets keep this game fun.

7. Only current players may post in this game. Others/The deceased will have to wait until the next round.

8. Current players are free to claim their roles or their characters this round! There will be no mod kills based on what you can post in this game. (….except spamming or posting things that will disturb the normal functioning of the game of course or simply cos I don’t like you). This is a game of trust and manipulation. So beware.

9. Days will end when a majority vote is reached, and night will ensue. No player should post at night time of the game and everyone is expect to send their night actions to me either through PM/EMAIL/TXT or w/e you can think of to reach me.

10. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than 24 hours, please post a notification in the thread. Please treat this game as a semi-serious commitment to the other players and contribute regularly.

ROUND 11 - THE CALABASH BROTHERS MAFIA (Town Wins!) Gametitle

(Yes it's another fucking VCD cover.....wanna fight about it?.....)

Legend has it that two demons were jailed in the Calabash Mountains, one a Scorpion spirit and the other a Snake spirit. One day, a pangolin happens to drill a hole on the slope and the two spirits escape from the cave, causing grave harm to the nearby residents. The pangolin hurries to an old man and says that only by growing calabashes in seven colors can they annihilate the spirits. So the old man spares no time in growing seven calabashes, each a different color of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple.....................

(That was totally not from wikipedia)

The seven brothers fights the two demons and defeats them swiftly with their awesome powers in the main series. But the demons does not give up easily and there will always be sequels and side stories. So they've now come with even more powerful alliances than ever and will prepare an epic battle with the calabash brothers once again.....to show how serious they are........they've kidnapped the old man and took him onto the top of the cliff.....the seven brothers follow in attempt to save the old man.......now we go to the scene.......

Oldman:"CHILDREN! YOU MUST KILL THE DEMONS! KILL THE DEMONS!
*gets stabbed in the back by the scorpion spirit and gets thrown down the cliff*

I don't know about the rest of you, but I appreciate the 40 word minimum per post thing. I have been playing too much mafia over on CNZ, and those games are very spammy. I wouldn't want to slip into that here.

I welcome the 40 words minimum limit, not sure on the fun fact regarding free role-claims...you make me want to go to wiki to re-read up on all those crap again. I hope this round will be as epic as you promised Steven, or else you would have killed a part of my childhood.

I am actually a little bit confused about the whole free roleclaiming thing. Hasn't roleclaiming ALWAYS been allowed? Or has there always been a subset of rules they you are allowed to claim, and I never knew?

It's not overly important I suppose (I generally dislike roleclaiming as anything but a last resort) but if someone could clarify that would be great.

i think the word limit is a good idea, although hopefully is useful towards the posts and not just used to meet the rules.

for now, im not too sure what to do, since i really dont know much about the theme of this game, but my first inclination is to LYNCH XYBERANGEL since last time they didnt play at all and if that is the case again, i say we get rid of them early on. If they actually contribute and play this round, i will be inclined to retract my vote (or if another voting prospect comes along)

.You cant really tell on day 1 so ppl just lynch the person who contributes least or who ever they feel like, or just waits till someones screws up. Thats why it ends up being the longest phase usually.....

Reznor is ALWAYS quick to vote if you read the past games, it's her good point. Get's the game going since nothing interesting ever happens during day 1 anyway. (it's why sometimes mafia games start with Night 1, more information off the bat means you point your finger(s) in the slightly more right general direction...or not depending on how good you are.) Only like half the ppl signed in so like yeah. Right now tempted to follow Reznor's vote (so not past grudge here ahem) but I want to wait a few more moments so ppl actually join.

Oh gawd 2 players off the field right off the bat? That sux. That makes what, 5-6 of us? We can either get this day over with like what Reznor is doing? or hold our vote to wait for others? I don't really care either way because even if we get day 1 done, we still have to wait for night actions from the ppl who are away (most likely). -_-|||
Well since I remember parts of this weird and wonderful series, here are my beliefs (take them as you will because for all we know Stebung could be screwing with this, and for all YOU ppl know I could be screwing with this *but you can confirm with wiki lol)

- Mafia: 2-3 ppl (most likely, just the normal guess work)
- 3rd Party: Not likely in this story, unless Stebung is screwing with us and added in spin-off characters or sequal characters, in the original plot of the series it was just pure good vs evil (come on this show was made for 5 yr olds)
- Although 1 thing I feel obliged to point out, among the 7 brothers there is the possibility of a 'judas' role because in season 1 (yes ppl, this thing goes beyond one season, WTF), the youngest brother was in actuality partially brain-washed...for some time so he was in fact evil temporarily.

So this should be an interesting game with the no reveal coming into play. Steven will screw us over and keep getting us to lynch people off till only one player lives Razz

The basic set up seems to be 7 brothers (Town) the old man who grows them (Town) 2 demon spirits (scorpion/snake - Mafia) and some third party role i suppose (survivor/serial killer/jester)

TIG wishes to LYNCH LENALESCA and exorcise one of the demonic spirits from the mountain. (Unfortunate as it may be, seeing as you are an active and contributing member in this game, but as it is written in the Bro Code "Bros before Ho's")

This is just coming from my experience playing the game over the months, but Lenalesca is currently playing a game like a Mafia would at this stage of the game.

- Mafia tend to be more vocal when they know a No-Reveal game is being played
- We are also at the stage of the game (not this game in particular, but Mafia as a whole) in that where we the old tactic of the "quiet ones being mafia" and the "outspoken" are townies tend to get reversed. Most people know now that if you want to remain alive and "hidden in plain sight" you got to be more vocal and thus the Mafia would start planning around it, like i would do if i was a Mafia.

Sigh, i think he's just pissed off that he failed to kill me last round in the night since he got killed in the same night XD.
As I already mentioned before even signing up, this series means a lot to me (even though yes it is cruddy now and I proly can't sit through half a min of it anymore) and I thought it'd be appropriate to get my main thoughts on the game first since NO ONE ELSE was starting to do much (except Reznor). The points I listed can be easily confirmed (although I haven't done it to be truthful, I was doing this by memory) in wikipedia etc and really THOSE are the main plot points etc, and the Youngest brother being evil at first was like one of the few things that actually stayed in my memory for that series, so plz, SUE me for being able to remember my favourite colour purple and the fact the youngest bro managed to pwn all other brothers. But anyway I have to say good points from TIG too, although actually I didn't realize it was a 'non-reveal role' round until this morning after I did my post. Yes I'm colourblind to red. XD

Also I do have to change one thing in my prev post:
- Stebung might have added in 3rd party stuff because the numbers don't add up ... bleh 7 + 3 or 2 doesnot = whatever we hav now

Oh, im not denying that your points arent correct. Im just thinking, that if the youngest brother is a Judas, he is going to be a threat to the town either way. But lynching him off would be better than if he got night killed. Think about it, if they are lynched and survive, we can narrow it down as either the brother is Unlynchable (which seems unlikely considering his description on wiki) or has switched sides. However, if they are night killed (say by the Mafia), they will just be turned into Mafia without us knowing who it was that was turned and increases the Mafia's numbers. Thats why i think your last point stood out to me so much. It read to me as a possible Mafia defense of innocence or that you are a possible the Judas brother, both of which are a threat to the town.

XD ok I just came back to ask TIG another question because I just realized that I had no clue why mentioning the youngest brother would be helpful to the mafia. But I think ur post kinda answered my question. However I must say that the youngest brother being judas is pure speculation, it was just a thing that stuck out to me when I saw it on tv. It could be very well that Steven didn't incorporate this in the game.

To TIG's question: good lord neither of them posted much so they didn't really stand out to me, what do u want me to say? I feel like both of them are 50/50, can't be trusted and ...oh fudge this I have a headache now. Alena passed me her swine flu today. I'm sorry. You can pick which ever one and I'll vote with you. I don't care about this round for the period of tonight because my brain is majorly fudged.

Is it just me or is Lenalesca getting a little frazzled? Playing over on CNZ may have dulled my verboseness a little, but I'd like to think my senses are still sharp enough - she seems defensive (understandable, given that she is under attack) and frazzled (which I wouldn't expect to see in an innocent, even one that reportedly has swine flu~).

This is day one, so I don't attach too much significance to anything done here. I was planning on jumping on Renzor's bandwagon, but I have nothing on xyberangel (have they even posted yet? I don't seem to recall). Lenalesca is providing all sorts of interesting reactions, and I want to see more.

In addition, her reflex revenge vote against sKeam just reeks of suspicion - I know that if I were in her shoes, I wouldn't be pushing the situation. It is tense enough for her as it is right now, and this blatant deflection isn't going to help her.

So, she may be mafia. This is far from concrete, but it's good enough for Day one imo. The other possiblity is that she is jester, but that doesnt bother me much, I have no issues with giving a jester a day one win.

So I'll LYNCH LENALESCA, just to see what she does next 8D

An interesting turn of events, and so quickly in the game Shocked

I am inclined to agree with TIG and his reasoning here, plus he usually picks up things quickly and turns out to be right more often then not. However i am still not totally convinced that its the right idea to lynch off Lenalesca this early on. Its true that she looks suspicious as being a possible Mafia candidate, but at this stage, thats all we have, suspicion to go on, and i think anyone who goes under the spot light early on, will look suspicious, especially when its TIG shining the light silent

Personally id still rather lynch off Xyberangel or Dara at this stage if they arent going to play. Id rather this be an enjoyable game to play and im sure im not the only one who feels this way. I am not defending Lenalesca by the way, i just hate inactive people in the game, i mean why sign up if you arent going to play? However if Lenalesca ends up getting 5 votes, i will switch my vote to end the Day Phase.

This is what happens when Hods isnt in the game, we actually have to think about who to lynch for the first day phase Razz

Ok, so i have read through quite a few of the old games now, and 1 common thing i noticed in almost all the games is that day 1 always last longs and its usually because people dont wont to make a bad move early on. Fair enough, who wants to be the reason we lost one of our good guys right?

That being said, im inclined to agree with Reznor, in that inactivity is going to hurt us more and more as time goes on, so id rather help start get things going as well. Now if they are inactive during the day, they will probably hold us up during the night time and not help us out with the night time powers i am guessing, so due to the inactivity, LYNCH XYBERANGEL

Dara, no lynch, seriously? I hope you are a jester boy, since thats ludicrous. Even on Day One, no lynch does NOT help the town. All it does is give the mafia a free kill on night one, and the town have nothing to show for it. Even if the one we lynch is a townie, in increases the statistical probability that our next relitivley uninformed lynch will be mafia.

This is a lesson I learnt here, and I nearly learnt it the hard way. After seeing is screw the town over in the Geass mafia over on CNZ, I really dislike it. It is not a winning strategy for the town.

Change your lynch, or I will be changing mine.

sorry I haven't said anything yet but i have been reading and following whats going on and to be honest, I am very confused at the moment (I think I'll reread all the posts... again). XD I'm with idlefingers - from what I read i find everyone so far suspicious ( Razz

except me of course ).

Lenalesca does seems suspicious - but then again i think she seems suspicious nearly every game - especially at the beginning

Whoa, me being frazzled? Dude ya need to work on your senses creature. How was I frazzled? I was only pointing out the most obvious flaws in Skeam's post (I wasn't going all CAPS and everything lol) and I did them quickly and clearly.
Skeam says his reasons to vote for me was pretty much same as TIGs, but he didn't exactly follow on the vote straight after TIG's post, he did it after I explained to TIG about my apparently 'suspicious' behaviour and even then he made no comment about my latest post and went to one of my earlier posts to quote and say that I'm suspicious. Ok not exactly nitpicking here but you kind of seem desperate here.
It seems like both TIG and Skeam's reasons for voting for me is that I was too chatty, but wasn't I always like this even in previous games? (as Reznor pointed out)
On the upside at least this whole spotlight on me thing has got more people talking.

So maybe not frazzled. But off nonetheless, though I can't find a word to describe it properly. I suppose that is what you call gut instinct, though I don't like that term much. And there is still the little matter of that blatant revenge vote 8D I hates those.

But regardless of all that, I'll still lynch you, because TIG is. After butting heads with him in the KHR mafia, I hold his ability in this game to very high esteem. I certainly hope that he is not mafia, as I think he is one of our most valuable assets. His reasoning checks out in my mind - the reasons I stated in my post were more an of a confirmation of suspicion based off my own thoughts.

This has to be one of the most retarded posts i have read in all my time in playing mafia (however short that may be). Problems with your theory:

- How exactly do you plan on figuring out who the mafia is via a kill. The only way you can do this effectively, is if you are able to understand somewhat the manner in which the Mafia is thinking during the game, and you can only do that if you already have a suspicioun on who the Mafia may be (see ho this line of thought is going to end up cyclical?). There are only a few players who i have seen who have been able to do that, those being TIG and LCP.
- THE GAME IS A NON REVEAL ROUND (so if i am understanding the siuation correctly, we dont know if the death was via Mafia/SK or possible Vigilante)
- It does not account for kills which were done out of pure randomness to incite chaos amogst us.

All i said was i dont want to get rid of a player who is active this round unless we think it is the best move at the time (i.e. decent suspicion of them being Mafia)

@ Creature, Heh, your new posts seem more of an interest to me. I wont talk too much about it though. Just pointing out, I wasn't exactly voting out Skeam as revenge, because I could have just did the same to TIG (but lo and behold, his reasons do make sense to me and thus in my post afterwards I acknowledged it and explained my actions), I truly did consider Skeam's reasons (and his only) to vote against me to be absurd which made me suspicious of him, thus my vote. Although seriously this is making me strangely reminiscent of that round of Supernatural mafia where we had a duel on top of massive walls of text, this wasn't quite getting there but ... reconsidering my vote right now.

P.S - lol at Reznor and Dara (come on man, focus! What you said in ur post was so contradicting it hurts!).

I cant speak for sKeam, but im not voting against you because you are more vocal, in fact i enjoy that you are contributing more in the game. But its the context of what you are saying that seems suspicious to me. The nature of the information seems to be just helpful enough to seem like you are a townie but open enough to allow for you to possible claim as someone else if you need to.

And with the way some people are "keeping their distance" between each other in their posts and thoughts, i would say that Lenalesca/Idlefingers and sKeam/Reznor are teamed up. (Lenalesca/Reznor seems less likely with the way she is somewhat advocating for Lenalesca and Lenalesca is agreeing with her). But this may just be me looking too much into the situation now... Suspect

Fair enough, Lenalesca, fair enough. But did sKeam not state that his reasons were aligned with TIGs, and the rest was an addendum?

Sort of a moot point - Dara has had 12+ hours to change, and I think it is time to have a go at him. He is an inactive, and one doing something stupid while he is at it. Thats two reasons to lynch him now in my book.

Actually, I am. Not about the fact that the lynch landed on me, but about the fact that you are now playing the game properly.

Well, thats my beef with dara sorted - it took a lynch vote to knock me to my senses when I voted no lynch, and similar treatment seems to have worked for Dara. Now, back on track.
